Terms of service

These terms are between you and Greninger Enterprises LLC. Using Holdout means you accept them.
What Holdout is
Holdout works out how many days your household can hold out on what it has, and helps you extend that number. It also shows public weather, civil and recall alerts that cover the places you track.
Alerts are not a warning system
This one matters more than the rest. Holdout relays public alerts from the National Weather Service, FEMA's IPAWS, the FDA and third-party news aggregation. It is not a warning system and must not be relied on as one.
Alerts can be delayed, incomplete, or missed entirely — a feed can be down, a phone can be offline, a notification can fail to deliver, and an alert can be cancelled without us hearing about it. News items come from an automated aggregator and can misdate or misplace an event.
Keep using Wireless Emergency Alerts, a NOAA weather radio, local sirens and the instructions of your local emergency management. Holdout is a supplement to those, never a replacement.
The numbers are estimates
Your holdout figure is arithmetic on what you tell us: what you have, how much of it, and who it has to cover. It assumes your inventory is accurate and that consumption is steady. Treat it as a planning figure, not a guarantee, and do not use it as the sole basis for a decision that affects anyone's safety.
Your account
You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your password to yourself. Tell us if you think someone else has it. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live.
You keep ownership of everything you put into Holdout. You give us only the permission needed to store it, encrypt it, sync it to your own devices, and show it back to you.
Subscriptions
Paid tiers are billed through Stripe on the interval you choose, and renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel any time from Billing; you keep the tier until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not pro-rate partial periods. If we change a price we will tell you before it applies to you, and a founders' price stays at the rate it was bought at for as long as the subscription runs unbroken.
Purchases made on the website are handled by us through Stripe. The mobile apps do not take payment.
Fair use
Do not use Holdout to break the law, to attack the service or the feeds it reads, to resell access, or to scrape it. We may suspend an account doing any of those.
Ending it
You can delete your account at any time from Account › Delete account. It takes effect immediately, cancels any subscription, and erases your household data permanently.
We may end or suspend an account that breaks these terms, or stop offering the service entirely. If we stop offering it we will give reasonable notice and a way to export what you have.
No warranty, and what we are liable for
Holdout is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, that alerts will arrive, or that the data in the feeds we relay is correct.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Greninger Enterprises LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oklahoma, United States. If a term is found unenforceable the rest still stands.
Changes
If these terms change in substance we will update the date at the top and tell you in the app before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Holdout after that means you accept the new terms.
